Privacy

This site has no accounts, sets no cookies and loads no third-party trackers or advertising.

When you check a site

We store the result of the check and the time it was made. We don't store who asked. Your IP address is kept for up to an hour in our rate limiter, to limit how many checks one network can start. The website you checked and its result appear in the public list of recent checks on our home page, never with anything about you.

When you report a problem

We store the problem type you chose and the time. To stop the same person reporting many times, we also store a one-way keyed hash of your IP address combined with the date. It changes every day and cannot be turned back into your IP address.

When you comment

We store your comment, the name you entered (if any), your country and the same daily-changing hash used for reports, so we can stop repeated posting. Comments are public and are deleted after a year.

When you test from your connection

Your browser contacts the site you're checking directly, as if you visited it. That site sees your request like any other visit. We store only whether it worked, how long it took and your country.

When you look up your IP address

The "What is my IP" page reads your address from the request, looks up the network it belongs to in a database on our own server, and sends both back to you. Nothing about it is kept: not in our database, cache or rate limiter, and our web server writes no access log for that page. Browsers and shared caches are told not to store it either.

Notifications

If you ask to be notified when a site is back, we store the push address your browser gives us. We delete it after sending the one notification, or after 7 days.

How we know your country

We look up the country of your IP address in a database on our own server (DB-IP Lite). The IP address itself is not stored with anything you send us.

Server logs

Like any web server, ours writes technical access logs, including IP addresses, which are used only for security and debugging. The "What is my IP" page is the exception: it is never logged.

Retention

Check results, reports and connection tests are deleted after 90 days; outage records and comments after a year.
